Police in San Jose this morning are investigating a crash that killed two people, a sergeant said. Officers responded to a report of a crash in the area of Skyport Drive and North First Street, near the Mineta San Jose International Airport, at about 3:20 a.m., Sgt. Heather Randol said. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person in the same car was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead there, Randol said.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. The driver of the second car involved the crash fled the area on foot and remains at large, she said. The southbound side of North First Street is closed and traffic in the area is being rerouted to Metro Drive as the crash is investigated, Randol said.
