Phoenix Police Press Release
As part of “Operation Beer Garden”, Detectives from the Phoenix Police Business and Economic Stability Team (BEST) worked in cooperation with security from Circle K Stores to identify 18 year old Anthony Vasquez as a suspect allegedly involved in several beer thefts from the business.
The investigation alleges Vasquez, currently identified as the most prolific suspect in these type thefts, committed at least 43 thefts from Circle K stores with a total loss value of over $5,100.00. As many as 233 multi-packs of beer were stolen in a spree which encompassed November, 2012 to June, 2013.
Video surveillance evidence was used to identify Vasquez and, on at least one occasion, a vehicle he had used in the offense. Vasquez had prior arrests for beer thefts and at the time of this arrest on August 9th, 2013 he had a felony warrant for the theft of jewelry valued at over $65,000.00. The jewelry theft involved a “snatch & grab” from a Phoenix business in which Vasquez and a second suspect were apprehended and the jewelry was recovered.
This investigation and the continuing “Operation Beer Garden” campaign indicate suspects like Vasquez are often involved in varying types and degrees of criminal activity. The Phoenix Police Department will continue to pursue these suspects in our effort to protect life and property.
