A body found on private property in Petaluma Friday morning was a woman whose identity has yet to be determined, a Petaluma police lieutenant said today. The woman’s body was found heavily decomposed at the McNear Peninsula, a privately owned piece of undeveloped land near Steamer Landing Park, and is believed to have been there since sometime in June, Lt. Tim Lyons said. Someone had called around 1:45 a.m. Friday morning about a possible dead body found at the 10-acre area that is covered in vegetation. Dental records are being used to identify the body, Lyons said today. The woman was found clothed and her death is not considered suspicious, he said.
