Police in Oakland are investigating three shootings that killed one and injured seven people Saturday. The first shooting happened around 4:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Telegraph Avenue, Officer Kevin McDonald said. Officers arrived at the scene and found four people suffering from gunshot wounds. All four were transported to a hospital and are expected to survive, McDonald said.

The shooter stole property from the victims’ car and ran off, McDonald said. The victims chased the suspect and retrieved the stolen property, and minutes later, the suspect returned to the car and opened fire, he said. No arrests were made. The second shooting was reported at about 9:10 p.m. in the area of 60th Avenue and Camden Street, according to McDonald. Officers arrived and found one person suffering from a gunshot wound, he said. The victim was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive, McDonald said.

No suspect information was immediately available. Both shootings are under investigation. In a third shooting, a female was killed, and a male and 4-year-old child were injured as a result of the shooting in the 7200 block of MacArthur Boulevard at about 9:40 p.m., McDonald said. The male suffered a gunshot wound but the child was struck with debris from shattered glass. Both are expected to survive. No arrests have been made in that shooting.
