A woman threatened peace officers with a kitchen knife Friday afternoon in Watsonville, police said. At about 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to an apartment in the 500 block of Rodriguez Street on a report of a family disturbance. Responding officers learned that a woman was causing a disturbance inside the residence.
Officers were escorting the woman from the residence, when she grabbed a large kitchen knife. She held it up above her head in the direction of the officers, police said. One officer grabbed the suspect’s arm and was able to knock the knife out of her hand, police said.
Two more officers subdued her and were able to take her into custody without further incident, according to police. Neither the officers nor the suspect were injured during the incident, police said. The suspect was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
