Two transient men have been arrested in connection with two shootings in Monterey County, according to sheriff’s deputies. Oscar Adrian Franco, 25, and Juan Rodriguez Franco, 23, were allegedly in possession of a semi-automatic handgun, deputies said. At about 5:40 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the unit block of Salinas Road in the census-designated place of Pajaro.
Deputies met a victim at the scene of the shooting, who provided a brief description of the suspects. While deputies were investigating the first shooting, a second shooting was reported near the intersection of Hall and Las Lomas roads. According to the sheriff’s office, a victim at the scene reported that Oscar Franco shot at the victim’s vehicle.
Three bullets struck the vehicle, but the victim was uninjured. Deputies arrested both suspects with the assistance of witnesses and the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force. A weapon that may have been used in the shootings was recovered from the suspects, sheriff’s officials said.
