Two men found shot dead near parked car in Monterey

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of two males who were found fatally shot near a car on the side of a road off of U.S. Highway 101 on Sunday night. Deputies responded to Dunbarton Road in Royal Oaks, southeast of Watsonville, at 10:12 p.m. after a passing motorist spotted the bodies, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputies arrived to find the bodies behind a car parked on the road’s shoulder, sheriff’s officials said. The victims’ names have not yet been released.
