Oakland Police Searching Adams Point Neighborhood for Armed Robber

Police searched a neighborhood near Oakland’s Lake Merritt for an armed robber this afternoon but were unable to find him. Officers responded to a report of a robbery at Euclid and Van Buren avenues in the city’s Adams Point neighborhood at 12:41 p.m., Officer J. Moore said. The suspect stole the victim’s purse and cellphone at gunpoint, police said. Officer scoured the neighborhood, but the robber was not found and the search ended shortly after 1:30 p.m., Moore said.

The suspect is described as a black man about 20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans at the time of the robbery and was last seen running up Bellevue Avenue toward Palm Avenue, police said.
