San Jose Police Arrest Suspect Believed To Be Connected To Fatal Shooting Of SJSU Student

San Jose police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the death of a 19-year-old student from San Jose State University who was shot while a passenger in car in downtown San Jose on Saturday. Kimberly Joyce Chico was shot at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday in the area of South Second and East San Salvador streets, police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. Chico had been a student at the university since June 2012 and was enrolled to begin her second year of classes there on Aug. 20, a according to university spokeswoman Pat Lopes Harris. Police were investigating whether someone fired directly at Chico or if she happened to be in the line of fire during a shooting involving other people, Dwyer said.
