Texas Running Out of Execution Drug

The State of Texas reports that the are running out of the drug they use to execute death row inmates. The supply of the drug they have remaining has an an expiration date in September 2013. Apparently other states are also reporting a similar problem. Drug companies are being pressured by anti-death penalty groups to stop making the drug pentobarbital used for executions.
The Missouri Attorney General recently suggested the state should consider going back to using a gas chamber.
Texas has executed the most prisoners 503 since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.
Virginia comes in second with 110 executions.
California has executed 13 inmates.
