A man armed with pepper spray robbed a Verizon Wireless store in Pleasanton late Tuesday morning, a police lieutenant said. Police responded to the store at 6070 Johnson Drive at 11:10 a.m. when the suspect began grabbing display cellphones off shelves, Lt. Jim Knox said. The man then threatened to shoot store employees with pepper spray before fleeing from the scene, Knox said. He was seen running on Johnson Drive towards the Hilton Hotel, according to Knox.

The robber was seen holding several cellphones and iPads in his arms, Knox said. The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a light blue shirt underneath and a light blue baseball cap. The man acted alone in the robbery, police said.
