Six people were injured in two separate fights an hour apart on Sunday night, a San Rafael police spokeswoman said. Three San Rafael men suffered injuries to their faces and heads during a fight in a parking lot in the 400 block of Canal Street around 10 p.m., spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

Police determined the men were struck with a metal pipe and a belt. San Rafael Fire Department personnel treated two of the men at the scene and one was taken to a hospital, Rohrbacher said. Police arrested Wilfido Mazariegos Rodas, 32, for assault with a deadly weapon. Hermino Lopez, 19, and Cesar Lopez Chilel, 33, were issued citations for being intoxicated in public and fighting in public, Rohrbacher said.

Police responded to a second fight at 10:57 p.m. in a parking lot at 40 Sonoma St., Rohrbacher said. Three men in a neighboring complex were found with stab wounds and were taken to a hospital, Rohrbacher said.

A suspect, Keni Lopez-Perez, 21, fled the scene, but returned to the area and was detained by family and friends of the stabbing victims, Rohrbacher said. Lopez-Perez was arrested for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious injury. He was booked in the Marin County Jail, Rohrbacher said.
