San Jose police are investigating an elderly woman’s death as the city’s 30th homicide of the year, a police spokesman said this afternoon. Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 900 block of Lundy Avenue in North San Jose at 10:24 a.m. today after the fire department informed police of suspicious circumstances there.

Fire department personnel had responded to a report of a female in distress at the apartment, police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. Police said the woman had injuries consistent with a homicide. They have not yet released additional details about the crime, or the woman’s name. At this time last year, San Jose had recorded 23 homicides, police said.
