An 8-year-old girl was fatally shot and three other victims were injured in East Oakland late Wednesday night, a police spokeswoman said. A 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy suffered gunshot wounds and are in stable condition this morning, Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said. A woman also suffered a gunshot wound and is in stable condition this morning, according to Watson.

The preliminary police investigation revealed that one or more unknown suspects fired shots into the residence, striking the victims with gunfire. Police received a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of Wilson Avenue at 11:18 p.m. All four victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where the 8-year-old girl was pronounced deceased. No suspect information has been released, police said.
