Santa Rosa police have arrested a Sonoma County man on suspicion of molesting a juvenile girl and possession of child pornography, a police sergeant said. The suspect, Jeramie Prier, 35, was a friend of the girl’s family, Sgt. Terry Anderson said. During an interview on June 29 at the Redwood Children’s Center, the girl told police Prier fondled her under her clothing when her parents were not present, and that he had taken two pictures of her with his cellphone, Anderson said.
Prier voluntarily went to the Police Department and denied the charges during an interview, Anderson said. Santa Rosa police detectives and a Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy then searched Prier’s temporary residence in Sonoma County and seized several cellphones and other items as evidence, Anderson said. During the investigation that continued for several more days, the lead detective was contacted by witnesses regarding Prier’s behavior in the days following the alleged molestation, Anderson said.
Based on that information and an analysis of Prier’s computer and cellphone, detectives determined Prier was involved in the incident and possessed child pornography, Anderson said. Police got a warrant for Prier’s arrest on July 11, and sheriff’s deputies and a police detective searched for Prier in the area of Stony Point Road and state Highway 116 on July 12, Anderson said. Prier was arrested and booked in the Sonoma County jail under $1 million bail for forcible child molestation and possession of child pornography, Anderson said.
