A man who burglarized a home in Petaluma early Saturday morning was later tracked down and arrested, police said. Grant Douglas Lowrie, 24, of Petaluma, woke a homeowner as he was burglarizing a garage attached to a home in the first block of Howard Street at about 8:30 a.m., according to police. The homeowner contacted police after he saw Lowrie exit a side door of the garage with his bike and other personal items, police said.

The homeowner attempted to confront Lowrie, but the suspect fled the scene on the bike, police said. More than two hours later, at about 10:40 a.m., police received reports of a suspicious person in the first block of Lakeville Street, according to police. The suspicious person matched the description of Lowrie. Police found him hiding behind trees, according to police.

A search revealed that Lowrie had stolen items from earlier. He returned all the property, police said. He later admitted to the robbery, police said. Lowrie, currently on probation in Sonoma County for a prior narcotics related incident, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
