A man suspected of committing multiple daytime robberies at San Jose gas stations and convenience stores has been arrested, a San Jose police spokesman said. Marquese Reese, 31, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of robbing four San Jose businesses from June 24 through July 2, San Jose police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. The robberies took place as early as 8:30 a.m. and the latest at 1:30 p.m., Dwyer said.

The four businesses were a Shell gas station on Alum Rock Avenue, a Stop and Buy store on South Capitol Avenue, a USA gas station on 26th and Julian streets and a Valero gas station on Stevens Creek Boulevard. Surveillance video footage revealed that Reese disguised his face and threatened store clerks with a firearm demanding money and personal property, Dwyer said.

Reese allegedly drove a stolen SUV to the businesses to conduct the robberies, Dwyer said. Officers arrested Reese at his residence and booked him on four counts of robbery, false imprisonment, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and probation violation, Dwyer said.
