Multiple fires were set at a Clayton park Tuesday afternoon and police are searching for the suspects responsible, the police chief said. Three grass fires set ablaze in the grassy area on a trail at Lydia Lane Park, located off of North Lydia Lane, were reported around 5:30 p.m., Clayton police Chief Chris Thorsen said.

The chief said the incident “doesn’t appear to be accidental” and the department is looking for arson suspects. An erroneous report was made Tuesday afternoon that an arrest had been made in the case, Thorsen said. No injuries were reported in the fire and no structures were damaged, Thorsen said.
