A Russian immigrant wanted for the murder of an elderly Antioch man last month was arrested with the aid of U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday in Washington state, police said today. Police said Ruslan Yaroslavovich Bazelyan, 21, was arrested near Vancouver, Washington, for the alleged murder of 71-year-old Ronald Rush in his Antioch home last month.
Rush’s body was discovered at his house in the 4400 block of Horseshoe Circle on June 11, according to police. He was killed due to blunt force trauma to the head, police said. Police said Bazelyan, who had been staying at the house for at least a week before the killing, fled in Rush’s gold BMW with the victim’s cellphone.
He was immediately named as a suspect in the case and police obtained a warrant for his arrest. The 21-year-old emigrated to the U.S. from the Ukraine as a refugee in 2003 and was known to work as an auto mechanic and auto body repairman.
