A man was arrested in unincorporated Monterey County over the weekend after allegedly driving drunk with several firearms in his vehicle, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy was sitting in his vehicle at Jolon and Pine Canyon roads around 9:35 p.m. Saturday when 32-year-old Joseph Wilson drove by at speeds over 120 miles per hour, sheriff’s officials said.

The deputy stopped the vehicle and noticed an odor of alcohol coming from Wilson. California Highway Patrol officers also responded and conducted field sobriety tests, which led them to determine that Wilson had been driving drunk, sheriff’s officials said.

The 32-year-old, a resident of the unincorporated community of Lockwood, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to the sheriff’s office, a search of the suspect’s car turned up a loaded firearm on the front seat and three unloaded guns throughout the vehicle.
