Investigators are looking for a man who stabbed a plumber in the back in an apparently unprovoked attack at an apartment complex in Watsonville on Monday afternoon, police said. At about 4:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Clifford Manor Apartments in the 200 block of Clifford Avenue after police received a report of a stabbing. They arrived to find a 26-year-old man suffering from a single stab wound to his back.
The victim was transported to Watsonville Community Hospital and treated for his injury, which is not considered life-threatening, police said. Police said the victim was doing repairs in an outdoor common area at the complex when the suspect walked up to him, said a few words and stabbed him, police said. The victim went to his co-workers for help and the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has dark hair and a dark complexion, and was wearing a black shirt and a blue, red, and white hat, police said. The victim did not know the suspect and the motive is unclear, according to police.
