A suspect was arrested Sunday evening in connection with an Aptos double homicide, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were first called to a home on the 100 block of Ridgeview Drive around 4:45 p.m. on a report of a family disturbance, sheriff’s Deputy April Skalland said. They found one homicide victim outside the house and another inside, Skalland said.
Deputies learned that James Henderson, a 39-year-old with no fixed address, was seen leaving the area on foot and began searching the area for him, Skalland said. He was located on a nearby property and arrested after a short struggle with deputies. Residents in the area received reverse 911 calls during the search advising them to lock their doors and call 911 if they saw anything suspicious.
