A man found dead on MacArthur Boulevard this morning might not have been the victim of a homicide as police had initially reported. The man was found in the 6300 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, a few blocks from Mills College, at 9:28 a.m., according to police. Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said authorities are waiting until the Alameda County coroner’s bureau determines the man’s cause of death before they decide if his death was a homicide. Police said the man’s death was not due to a shooting. The fatal shooting of a man in the 9800 block of A Street, near International Boulevard, at 5:32 a.m. is considered to be a homicide, Watson said. Watson didn’t release the men’s names or any information about suspects or motive in the shooting in the 9800 block of A Street.
