Police in Salinas arrested a man Friday who robbed a bike and resisted arrest. At about 9 p.m., William Becerra Garcia allegedly approached a 31-year-old man who was riding home on his bike in the area of Alma and Second avenues, police said. Garcia reportedly pointed a gun at the man and demanded the man’s wallet, according to police. The victim dropped his bike and backed away, police said.
Garcia took the bike and rode away, according to police. Police received reports of the robbery shortly after and quickly found the suspect on Oregon Street, police said. After resisting arrest, officers used stun guns to subdue Garcia, according to police. Police found a loaded gun in Garcia’s pocket, police said. Garcia was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of several felonies, including robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and gang enhancements.
