San Francisco police today released video footage of a robbery last week in which a 68-year-old woman was punched and had her two purses stolen by two teenage girls on a Muni light-rail vehicle in the city’s Bayview District. The robbery, reported at about 8:35 p.m. on June 11 near Third Street and Carroll Avenue, was recorded by the bus’ surveillance cameras. The woman was sitting in the front of the Muni train when the girls approached.
The teens, believed to be around 13 or 14 years old, punched her and then stole the purses, which contained cash, a cellphone and other items, according to police. The video footage released today shows the teens struggling with the woman and then fleeing out the door of the train as the woman gives chase. The teens, who have not been found, appear to be black.
