A dispute over a parking spot in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early Sunday morning led to a fight and a purse snatching, police said today. The robbery was reported at 12:27 a.m. near New Montgomery and Natoma streets, where a 28-year-old woman and 38-year-old man had tried to park their vehicle, according to police.

A suspect approached and started an argument over the parking space, then hit the man several times and grabbed the woman’s purse before fleeing in a black SUV, police said. The man complained of pain to his face but declined medical treatment. The suspect, described as in his early to mid-20s, had not been found as of this morning, police said.
