A suspicious container found in the yard of a Vallejo residence on Monday morning was not an explosive device, according to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office. A metal cylinder with electrical tape wrapped around one-third of it was found around 10:20 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Fulton Avenue, sheriff’s Lt. Brad DeWall said. Sheriff’s deputies treated it as an explosive device and informed residents through the CityWatch notification system to shelter in place around 11:50 a.m., DeWall said. The Yolo County Bomb Squad examined the container around 3 p.m. and determined it was not an explosive device and was safe to handle, DeWall said. Residents were then informed through the notification system that the situation was safely resolved, according to DeWall.
