Triple Shooting Near Scene of Side Show in Oakland

A woman is in critical condition and two male victims also wounded in a shooting that apparently occurred at the scene of an illicit car “side show” in Oakland early this morning, police said. The shooting was reported near the intersection of 106th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard around 2:35 a.m., according to Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and provided first aid to the victim, who was taken to a local hospital. She was last listed in critical condition, Watson said.
Two males who appear to have been wounded in the same shooting arrived a short time later at a local hospital with gunshot wounds that are not believed to be life threatening, according to police. Watson said police had also received reports of a “side show” in the area at the time of the shooting. During “side shows” drivers typically perform illegal and often reckless stunts such as “doughnuts,” usually in vacant parking lots, according to police. Oakland police are planning a news conference on Monday to announce initiatives to address “side shows” in the city.
