A 17-year-old girl was accosted by a man on her way to the Hill Education Center in Novato Thursday morning, a police sergeant said. The girl was walking to the high school located at 720 Diablo Ave. in the area of First Street and Mirabella Avenue around 8:30 a.m. when a vehicle pulled alongside and the driver began talking to her, Novato police Sgt. Nick Frey said.
The student did not respond and kept walking, but a few minutes later the driver got out of his green compact sedan and approached the girl, Frey said. The girl again refused to talk to him and the man tugged on her shirt as she walked past him, Frey said. The man did not try to pull her into his vehicle but followed her toward the area of Center Road and Diablo Avenue in his vehicle, Frey said.
The girl then reported the incident to school officials. Police searched the area but did not find the man or the vehicle, Frey said. The driver is a light-skinned Hispanic male in his mid-20s, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds.
