San Jose 20th Murder 2013 man shot near Santee Elementary School

Police in San Jose are investigating a fatal shooting this morning that marks the city’s 20th homicide of 2013. At about 5:21 a.m., San Jose police received a report of gunshots heard in the 1300 block of Dubert Lane. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a male victim near the intersection of Audubon and Santee drives, about one block from Santee Elementary School, police said.

The victim is believed to be in his late teens to early 20s. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after officers arrived, police said. No suspects have been identified and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Police do not know if the shooting was gang-related. The name of the victim has not been released.
