Police are investigating what led to a fatal shooting in South San Jose Sunday night, a police spokesman said. Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 100 block of Hayes Avenue at about 10:10 p.m., Officer Albert Morales said. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Morales said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Morales said the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown. No suspects have been located, he said. The homicide was the third of the day. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., two male victims were shot in East San Jose, in the area of Rhinehart Drive and Clogstone Court, police said.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at a hospital a short time later, according to police. That shooting remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made. The three homicides mark the 17th, 18th and 19th of the year.
