A female suspect stabbed and seriously injured a 14-year-old boy in a gang-related attack in Salinas on Friday, police said. The victim was walking with friends in the area of East Alisal Street and North Madeira Avenue around 4:20 p.m. when two females approached and challenged the group of friends about their gang affiliation, according to police. After the victim claimed to be a gang member, one of the females stabbed the victim in the neck, police said.
The boy and his friends ran to a nearby store, where a citizen offered him a ride to the hospital. While en route to the hospital, police officers stopped the car. The victim later made his way to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, police said. Police said the victim was last listed in “very unstable condition.” Anyone who may have witnessed this attack is encouraged to call Salinas police at (831) 758-7090.
