The wife of a man suspected of shooting another man to death May 8 inside a home in East San Jose was arrested a day later on suspicion of helping him get away after the shooting, San Jose police said. Carmen Acevedo, 50, also known as Carmen Martinez, is suspected of driving the getaway car with her husband, Louie Garza, the suspect in the slaying of Ralph Gomez, police said.
Acevedo was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory in Gomez’s death and has since been released from the Santa Clara County Jail, police said. Garza, 50, of San Jose, remains at large and police believe that he has fled to the Central Valley area of California and might have attempted to flee the country, police said. Gomez, 46, was shot at least once in his home in the 2900 block of Westboro Drive, police said.
