Reuben Ramirez Has Been Arrested
A woman and a 1-year-old boy died and a 3-year-old girl was hospitalized after they were stabbed in their Alum Rock home this afternoon, a Santa Clara County sheriff’s spokesman said. Sheriff’s deputies first responded to the home on Viewmont Avenue near Alum Rock Avenue at 3:30 p.m. after receiving a report from a family member that the three had been stabbed, Deputy Kurtis Stenderup said.
The woman, 40, and the boy were pronounced dead at the scene. The girl was taken to a hospital. The extent of her injuries was not clear this evening. Deputies are searching for a person of interest in the case, 29-year-old Reuben Ramirez, a family member who lives at the residence. Stenderup said that Ramirez has a history of mental illness and that the sheriff’s office has responded to calls about him at the home before.
However, Ramirez is not considered a suspect in the stabbing and is only sought for questioning. Ramirez and the three victims were all family, but he was not romantically linked to the woman and she is not the mother of the two children, Stenderup said. He did not know the exact familial relationship between the four. Anyone who sees Ramirez has been asked to call 911 immediately.
