A Santa Rosa man who crashed his Ford truck near the state Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 101 cloverleaf interchange Sunday night remained in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital today, hospital spokeswoman Katy Hillenmeyer said. Tony Nguyen, 21, was driving the 2002 Ford F-150 truck west on Highway 12 just east of Highway 101 around 10 p.m., CHP Officer Marcus Hawkins said.
Nguyen lost control of the truck and swerved off the highway, crossed over a connector ramp lane from northbound Highway 101 to westbound Highway 12 and rolled down a hill, Hawkins said. The truck landed on its wheels, but the tailgate and driver’s side tires and rims came off the truck, Hawkins said. The crash smashed the truck’s windows and collapsed its roof, Hawkins said. Medical responders removed Nguyen, who was unconscious, from the truck and took him to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Hawkins said. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, Hawkins said.
