Two men were stabbed on the Healdsburg High School tennis courts Tuesday night by suspects who yelled gang epithets at them, police said. The victims, both 25-year-old Healdsburg residents, went to Healdsburg District Hospital for treatment. One had been stabbed twice and the other three times, Officer Ian Benner said. Both were in stable condition, police said.
Police were not notified of the incident until around 9:10 p.m. when the victims showed up at the hospital, Benner said. Benner said the victims were playing soccer with friends inside the tennis courts at the north end of the high school when two males ambushed them from behind around 8:20 p.m. The suspects yelled gang phrases during the attack, witnesses told police. The attackers then ran east on Monte Vista Avenue toward University Street. Police recovered a knife and a rock at the crime scene, Benner said.
