A man was arrested after leading officers in Belmont on a short pursuit Saturday morning, police said. Officers responded to a report that a man had just stolen tools from a garage at a home in the 2200 block of Village Court at about 9:15 a.m., police said.
The suspect, Mitchell Borden, 25, of Pacifica, was seen fleeing the area in a small white car with a woman in it, according to police. Officers found a car matching the description driving east in the 1500 block of Ralston Avenue and, when attempting to stop it, the car sped away, police said. Police pursued the car for a short distance.
The chase ended in the 1000 block of Hill Street, police said. Borden then got out of the car and ran, according to police. The woman stayed in the car. Officers quickly caught up to Borden and arrested him. The woman was released after providing a statement, police said.
