SAN MATEO COUNTY NARCOTICS TASK FORCE UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION LEADS TO THE SIEZURE OF A LARGE CACHE OF FIREARMS AND AMUNITION
On April 25, 2013 San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force concluded an undercover investigation of illegal firearms sales. San Mateo County Narcotics Agents working in an undercover capacity negotiated for the purchase of two assault weapons from suspect Steve Bowman.
The negotiations led to suspect Bowman offering to sell an AK 47 assault rifle with three high capacity magazines and one 100 round drum magazine; one .45 cal Thompson assault style weapon and 1000 rounds of ammunition. The transaction was completed in the parking lot of Bowman’s residence located in the 100 Block of Rock Harbor Lane in Foster City.
Once the transaction was complete Bowman was taken into custody a short time later. After Bowman was taken into custody a search warrant was executed at his residence. As a result of the search a loaded handgun with a high capacity magazine was located in the bedroom of Bowman’s three year old child. During the investigation, Agents learned of a second location Bowman had control of and a follow up search warrant was issued for a residence in the 3000 Block of Cabrillo Street in San Francisco.
As a result of that search Agents located two more assault rifles, one rifle, a shotgun, 12 various caliber handguns, both semi automatic and revolvers, as well as approximately 10,000 rounds of various caliber ammunition. Suspect Bowman was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility and has since been released on $150,000 bail.
