Santa Cruz police released a sketch Friday of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman after the two left a bar in downtown Santa Cruz in the early morning of April 6. The 26-year-old victim met the suspect in the downtown bar and had drinks with him until the bar closed early that morning, according to Santa Cruz police. The woman agreed to the man’s offer to accompany her as she walked home, police said.
As they reached the 600 block of Pacific Avenue, the male suspect directed the woman into a darkened driveway and started to make sexual advances. When the victim refused him, the man forcibly sexually assaulted her. The suspect fled the scene and headed north on Pacific Avenue, according to police.
The man is described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing 150 to 175 pounds. The suspect had long dark hair, dark eyes and pronounced eyebrows, police said. The suspect may frequent bars in the downtown area, police said.
