San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people this week who possessed several weapons and roughly $13,650 worth of drugs, a sheriff’s commander said. Millbrae police officers made a routine traffic stop on Monday when they saw Carey Stynes, 20, of San Bruno, talking on his cellphone, sheriff’s Cmdr. John Munsey said. The officers found Stynes to be in possession of a pound of marijuana and $8,800 in cash, Munsey said.

Police called the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force to assist in the investigation, which led to a search warrant issued for Stynes’ home in the 400 block of San Anselmo Avenue South in San Bruno, Munsey said. During the search, agents found another pound of marijuana, 3.6 grams of cocaine and 33 prescription pills without prescriptions, as well as an assault rifle, two shotguns, a revolver and a .22 caliber rifle, the commander said.

Agents also found another resident, Rebecca Flores, 21, in possession of 173 prescription pills, including Xanex, Vicodin and Narcos, Munsey said. Neither Stynes nor Flores are believed to be affiliated with any gangs, Munsey said. Munsey said the value of the marijuana and cocaine is roughly $13,650. He said the value of the pills is unknown. Stynes and Flores were arrested and booked into county jail.Stynes was booked on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a controlled substance and possession of an assault rifle, Munsey said. Flores was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, he said.
