A brother and sister were shot and killed in Richmond on Thursday night, a police lieutenant said. Richmond residents Darian Holly, 16, and his sister Mercedes Williams, 19, were standing with a group of people in front of a home in the 4100 block of McLaughlin Street around 9:45 p.m. when two suspects approached and opened fire, Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said.

The siblings were struck by the gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene, French said. The two male suspects ran away and also shot at a vehicle, but the sole occupant of the car was not struck, French said. The pair then got into a dark blue vehicle and drove south away from the scene, French said. The two remain at large as of this morning, she said. Other members of the group were not injured in the shooting, French said.

If you’re going to print a story, could you at least get the names correct?? HIS name is/was Airian NOT Darian!! He was my nephew & he at least deserves to be called by the name he was given by his mother when he was born! His Mother deserves to see her sons name spelled correctly too! Stop causing her more pain & FIX YOUR MISTAKE!!

Sorry if you think i’m being too hard on you. Perhaps you’d feel differently if this was 2 kids that were a part of your family. I read the story in other newspapers & yours was the only one who had the wrong name. I don’t know how newspapers get their information, but, how can you be the only ones that got a different name?? I would think that if you are suppose to be a reliable news source that you’d want to be certain that all the details associated with anything you print would be accurate & correct. It’s called responsible journalism. Thank you for at least taking the time to respond to my post. I’m not from that area of the country so therefore have to rely on finding the information printed in the papers out there via the internet. It was very disturbing to have to see my nephews name misspelled like this. If I had to search for this article using his name, it may have been impossible for me to even find it. Of course, in this particular case I was able to search for his sisters name, she was the other person shot down along with her little brother Airian.
