Robbers smashed display cases and stole jewelry from the Macy’s store at Concord’s Sunvalley Mall on Wednesday night, police said. Officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the store around 8:45 p.m., police Lt. Dave Hughes said. Hughes said three male suspects — one armed with a gun — entered the store, jumped a jewelry counter and started smashing display cases. No shots were fired, and no one was hurt, the lieutenant said. The suspects grabbed jewelry, then left the store, got into a car and drove off. The vehicle was later found unoccupied a few blocks from the mall in Pleasant Hill, police said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
