Someone crashed a stolen car through the front of a Staples store at The Courtyard Shopping Center in Pleasant Hill early this morning then stole property from inside, police said. At 5:42 a.m., Pleasant Hill police received a report of an alarm activation at the store, located at 2120 Contra Costa Blvd. When officers arrived, they found an unoccupied green 1997 Honda Accord that had been driven through the front of the business, police said.
The car had been reported stolen to University of California at Berkeley police on Sunday. Investigators found that some items had been taken from the Staples store. Security camera footage is being reviewed and potential witnesses who were working nearby at the time of the crime are being interviewed, police said.
