Six people were arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured a teenage boy near the Powell Street BART station in San Francisco on Friday evening, a police spokesman said today. The shooting was reported at 6:38 p.m. Friday by officers who heard gunshots coming from Hallidie Plaza and found the 16-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said.
The boy was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were considered life-threatening. Manfredi did not have an update on the boy’s condition as of this afternoon. Based on surveillance video in the area and descriptions provided by witnesses, police later on Friday arrested six men and recovered a firearm believed to be connected with the shooting, according to Manfredi. The names of the suspects were not yet being released pending further investigation by the Police Department’s gang task force, Manfredi said.
