Police in Palo Alto are searching for a man who robbed a credit union on Saturday morning. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a robbery at Provident Credit Union, located at 2390 El Camino Real, according to Palo Alto police. A black man in his 40s of 50s had entered the business and handed a note demanding money to one of the tellers, police said. The note claimed the suspect had a gun, though one was never seen, police said. The teller complied with the robber’s demands, and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was last seen running south through the parking lot. A witness said the suspect was seen driving south on El Camino Real in a silver or gray two0door sedan, possibly a Ford Thunderbird, police said. The suspect was described as standing between 5 feet 9 and 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black nylon jacket with a white and gray horizontal stripe across the front, black nylon pants with a white stripe on the side, a white watch and white shoes. He was also wearing eyeglasses, a black cap and a black backpack.
