Police are trying to identify a suspicious man who tried to pick up a 15-year-old girl as she walked to school Tuesday morning in San Leandro, police said. At about 8:30 a.m., the girl was walking on San Leandro Boulevard near Marina Boulevard when a car pulled up alongside her, police said. The driver offered the girl a ride, but she continued walking.

He continued to follow her and, fearing for her safety, the girl ran away and immediately reported the incident to police. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, about 20 years old, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt. His car is described as a large blue or teal SUV with oversize wheels and tires, according to police.
