Connecticut State Police Trooper Scott Wisner Shot by Robbery Suspects After Chase and Crash

On April 8, 2013, shortly before 3 p.m., the Old Saybrook Police Department responded to an armed robbery incident at the Days Inn on Boston Post Road in their town. Old Saybrook Police Officers spotted the suspect vehicle leaving the area and began chasing them. Connecticut State Police Troopers responded to the area to help in the car chase. The suspects eventually crashed into a State Trooper’s vehicle.

Two suspects then began shooting at State Police Detective Scott Wisner, who returned fire. Detective Wisner, Suspect Jonathan Alvarado and another unidentified suspect were shot in the gunbattle. Both Detective Wisner and Alvarado were taken to a hospital, where Alvarado later died.

The second injured suspect remains under 24 hour State Police guard.
