Police in Petaluma Friday arrested three men in connection with the theft of hundreds of gift cards totaling roughly $22,000. About 900 gift cards were taken from a car on Thursday on Woodside Circle, police said. An officer made contact with Robert Reid, 20, of Petaluma, for an unrelated reason when the officer located several of the stolen gift cards in Reid’s possession, according to police.
In addition to Reid, officers contacted Andre Rojas, 22, of Petaluma, and found additional stolen gift cards in his possession. Reid and Rojas were arrested for possession of stolen property. Police continued the investigation, and later served a search warrant for a home in the 200 block of Hill Boulevard. Several more of the stolen gift cards were recovered at the home, along with prescription medicine, police said.
Zack Fortune, 18, of Petaluma, was arrested and booked into the county jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of prescription medication, police said. In total, police have recovered 650 out of the roughly 900 stolen gift cards, police said. The remaining stolen gift cards have been entered into a national database as being stolen. Police are continuing to investigate the theft.
