A Vallejo man was arrested in Pinole over the weekend after allegedly chasing and kidnapping a woman on interstate Highway 80, police said Monday. Around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a report of an injury crash on Appian Way at Highway 80, according to police. Witnesses at the scene told officers that after the crash, a man had forcefully removed a woman from her car and into his vehicle and then sped away, police said.
Further investigation led police to determine that the victim, a 24-year-old Vallejo woman, was riding in a car driven by a friend and had been chased by the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jeremiah Snyder, from Vallejo to Pinole. The victim and her friend exited the freeway and were involved in a collision with another vehicle as they tried to flee from the suspect, police said.
Officers located Snyder and the victim on San Pablo Avenue near Oak Ridge Drive and arrested the suspect without incident. He was taken to county jail in Martinez on suspicion of kidnapping and narcotics offenses.
