Two people appearing at Contra Costa County Superior Court in Richmond on DUI charges were arrested after officers watched them drive away, police said. San Pablo police made the arrests Wednesday as part of a courthouse sting operation funded with state and federal grant money, according to police. Officers followed a number of people that day who were scheduled to appear in court for DUI charges.
While most of the drivers arranged for alternate means of transportation, two decided to drive away. Officers quickly caught up with those drivers, arrested them and impounded their vehicles for the 30 days, police said. The California Office of Traffic Safety, one of the agencies that funded the sting, reminds the public to report drunk drivers by calling 911.
